Chicago singer, songwriter GoWithTheMotion aka Motion is out with his latest project “Summer Canvas”.
He told you on his IG that Summer Wasn’t Over when he dropped his single ‘Poison’, and now he’s out with the full, nine-track project! It’s the second release of 2020 already from Motion as this comes on the heels of his album-of-the-year candidate “Soulwave” (stream here) which he released in May with instant classics like ‘Until We See The Sun’ and ‘Love Don’t Fade’. Speaking with Motion about “Soulwave”, he says it will always be a special project for him as he decided to move on from a long-term relationship, which had him trying new sounds and maturing, breaking out of his comfort zone musically and personally.
His new EP “Summer Canvas” expresses that leap and growth of maturity, conveying messages of positive energy, meeting new people and enjoying summer. With a focus and emphasis on the mental aspects of a relationship, and summer coming to a close, he says “the idea was to create a project that sounds and feels like a breath of fresh air on a breezy sunset beach”. But it doesn’t stop there, the cohesive flow of the album articulates an organization on it’s own accord as he starts out searching for love leading with the lyric “Ain’t had much luck with love’ on “Where You Are”.
After that confession, there’s nothing to look back on, as he delivers punch lines and pictures with his pen and voice as you find yourself immersed in a summer’s evening, maybe by a fire, “standing in the summer heat / I stop and feel the coolin’ breeze and say / this is all I need” on the euphoric and affectionate “In The Moment”.
