Jazmine Sullivan makes her return with her fourteen track LP titled “Heaux Tales”.
The 33-year-old veteran needs no introduction since dominating after her debut “Fearless” made its way to listeners back in 2008 and has captivated fans of music ever since. Even though this is her first project in almost 6 years, it still feels like she hasn’t missed a beat and is coming back with a splash.
Teaming up with H.E.R., Ari Lennox and everyone’s favourite artist Anderson.Paak, she recently took center stage on NPR’s Tiny Desk in the virtual home series as she runs 20 minutes off her new project (with one throwback joint). She highlights ‘Bodies Intro’, ‘The Other Side’ and more, ending with a surprise guest appearance from H.E.R. on the acoustic guitar as they perform ‘Girl Like Me’.
A fourteen track project puts an emphasis on being better as a woman, describing stories not necessarily directly of her life but of those around her. Will she contribute to social pressure’s of a younger age-group and relinquish her intuitions and just ‘go-with-the-flow’ or will she put the bottle down and garner respect through her Tales? Maybe neither, maybe both, press play to find out!
